Demos were crazy …. Still it is Democracy..!!

I could not sleep on May 15th night. Not ‘coz of the holiday the next day (May16th, 2009) being a Saturday... My sleeplessness was because all Indians were eager to know …. Who is going to rule us … for the next 5 years or till its early expiry..!!

We saw congress preaching stability, BJP rolling their chariot which previously raised them from 2 to 183, CPM attempting to form a third front to come up from the "Historic Blunder" and other miscellaneous with some misleading fourth front. The list was going on adding 5th, 6th and so on …

Advani challenged the PM for a public debate which PM refused. National Security Act became the veda for Varun Gandhi as he enjoyed sentiments behind the bars. Rahul was all along the constituencies with the PM and Sonia. We saw Tamil leaders backing a global terrorists and Chiranjeevi dancing for the welfare of the public. Vaijayanthi IPS was on the receiving end when un accounted lakhs were confiscated from her car. Mohd Azaruddin looked unfit in Khadi- Oakley combo, but was on, to "fix" the new role. Sasi Tharoor found UN elections less complicated than facing kerala henchmen.! Bollywood, kolly wood, tollywoods and other fire “woods” all on a sudden became so much concerned on the “welfare and development” programs of the country. But for the interference of the thrid and arguably the most important pillar of Indian democracy - the judiciary - "Khalnayak" would have made himself available in the Parliament wearing his TADA suit..!

Weber viewed that there are no morals in international politics which means states shall be at war all times. Kautilya complemented this when he believed that war is natural for a state. If we dwindle this a bit for our country on the deciding eve, we could conclude that “there are no morals in national politics… and there were too many “Kautilyas” with their “Anartha shastras” to complement this to justify their deeds.
To reach the magical figure of 272 was not easy. If you witness public auction of Manipulated Parliamentarians (MP’s) after the elections, you may not feel proud of the largest democracy … but since it is by the people, we need to accept….! Pathetic so to say. Political (self proclaimed) leaders realized very efficiently that it is better to have their own party with minimum representations rather than being attached with a big brother. In the public auction, the more you offer, the more we add for your majority.

15th night saw leaders all tight lipped. Few dreaming Deputy Prime minister posts, some wanted home ministry to close their own homicides. Railway was prerogative for few of the “reservation” parties. Sharad Pawar was in two (or more) boats since nobody could predict the direction of the tide.

Along with me all these leaders had a sleepless, though not dreamless, night.!

Dawn 16th, and thanks to electronic voting machines, in half an hour the general trend was on. Media were searching for some selected few leaders to comment, but found all of them missing. “polits” were inside the buereau, Paswan and Lalu in some derailed compartments, Puratchi thalaivi busy with LTTE issues, Chandrababu naidu shut down with viruses, and other so called “deciders” with their files corrupted.

UPA emerged victorious. The efforts of PM and Rahul found its way. Stability became the key word. Sensex skyrocketed. Touched the bull breaker three times a day.

It is said, democracy is a mere illusion that gives people a sense that they have some power over their lives but they have none. The powers get confined with a few who decides all. But Fair democracy sustain in my country now. I have a ruler who can take my country to new heights. In Gita, Lord Krishna said, every King merely represents his country and his personal interests do not come into play while facing the enemy head-on. Kautilya thinks that a King should attain three goals - must create wealth, have armies and should conquer the kingdoms and enlarge the size of his state. This is quite interesting because he in a way does believe that a state’s superiority is in its military and economic might which is what later philosophers and rulers have followed. My ruler, I am confident, will fulfill the first two, though he may abstain from the third, of conquering other kingdoms.

INC with their clinical "Italian" finish emerged as the single largest party. No big bargains from small timers. My country is on its move … to emerge as the super power. The biggest democracy - where Justice – social, economic and political are guaranteed, Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship are embedded, and equality of status and opportunity are endowed.
It is a sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic.
How many other countries can claim these incomparable trait in the whole world?

Proud to be an Indian..!
